Abstract

Airline operations were not only monopolistic but also profitable a business until in the late 1990’s. It is currently the most complex, competitive and vulnerable business across the world. Increasing fuel prices costs, pressure from the government with respect to stringent security measures and changing global economy have reduced profits and airline firms are working very hard to ensure that they conduct businesses in accordance to budgets.  Furthermore, the entry of low cost airlines has contributed to flexible working schedules, an aspect that has been challenging. In addition, low-cost operating airline groups have been an inconsistent conflict with varying and operating companies that are flexible in the market. Legacy airlines have   to engage in innovative efficiency measures so as to keep up with the pace in the market. So as to survive and achieve sustainable profitability airline firms have to streamline and change. One of the primary devices for this tremendous overhaul is outsourcing non-core operations. This will lead to considerable cost reductions while allowing them to leverage their systems and levels (Woods and Dowd, 2008). The study will adopt a punctuated socio-technical change process model in bid to map the resemblances between systems, players and technology as well as the activity and the overall impact of implementing the information system (IS) namely the Amadeus Revenue Accounting System (ARAS). This paper sets out to evaluate the impact of ARAS at Saudi Airlines. It will also discuss the attributes and benefits of ARAS that make Saudi Airline effectiveness, from the viewpoint of implementing the right revenue accounting system. Far from eliciting some of the challenges that ARAS grapples with, the paper will discuss customer centricity as an aspect of Amadeus current technological systems when it comes to enhancing the operational proficiency of Saudi Airlines.
