This paper is to help you think more about your hometown, rural and urban differences and similarities, and ideas about places that we have discussed in class so far. 1. Where are you from? Indicate name of community, population, location, and basic description (e.g., a small town in southern Ohio). If you lived in more than one place, choose one place that you identify with the most.
2. Imagine someone wanted to visit your community.
a. What would you say to describe this community? Include information about the local economy, landmarks, if your town is known for anything, nearby natural areas, and any other things you think are important. If you aren’t sure, talk to a family member or someone from your community for information.
b. What would you suggest this person do for the day? Include things from nearby communities or area if there is “nothing to do” in your community.
c. Where would you suggest they go to eat? Why would you recommend this restaurant?

Complete a paper approximately 3 pages in length (double spaced, 12-point font, 1” margins). Type your first and last name and OSU e-mail at the top of the first page. Papers will be due at the beginning of class. Plan to turn in a hard copy of the paper. Any papers turned in after the conclusion of the class period will be considered late and will receive a 10% penalty unless documentation of a valid excuse is provided. For each additional day the assignment is late, a 10% penalty will be deducted from the final grade. You will be graded on how completely you’ve answered each of the questions, clarity, and the depth of your answers. Feel free to attach photos.
